M. Krueger

Michael Krueger was born Dec. 29, 1956, in Hot Springs, S.D., to William amd Vera (Wilson) Krueger. He received his elementary education through sixth grade at Four Mile School on Pleasant Valley. He graduated from Custer (S.D.) High School in 1975 and attended Meteorology School in New Mexico. He ranched his whole life and ran his own business, Krueger Construction, for many years.

Mike met the love of his life, Laura Hovland in 1977 and they were married June 19, 1982. The couple had four children, Kris, Jake, Katie and Ben. Mike was a good-hearted man always ready to help anyone in need. He was a hard working man, yet his sense of humor was well developed. He was a voracious reader and a wordsmith. He was down to earth and loved the people in his life more than all his possessions. He was dedicated to his family and his children were his greatest achievement.

Michael died peacefully in his sleep Oct. 2, 2008, in the home where he was born and raised and lived all of his life in.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Krueger; and his mother, Vera Kemp. 

He is survived by his wife, Laura of Custer; three sons, Kris, Jake and Ben Krueger and one daughter, Katie Krueger, all of Custer; two brothers, Dave Krueger of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kerry Krueger of Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Gail Merrill of Buckeye, Ariz., and Finney Sechser of Rapid City.

A Memorial service will take place Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. on Pleasant Valley Rd. at the Arp residence. Signs will be posted.

A memorial fund  will be established for the Custer County 4-H.
