4-H Horse Show held in Hermosa

Custer and Fall River County 4-H youth exhibited their horsemanship skills by participating in the County 4-H Horse Show on June 26 at the Custer County Fairgrounds Arena in Hermosa.  The judge for the day was Kara Jo Webster.
The 4-Hers practice many hours, training their horses for the different events. This year’s event was host to 25 participants.  All participants complete a Horse Safety Training Program that offers an opportunity to gain skills, knowledge and expertise regarding the importance of safety around horses and while riding horses. 
Showmanship trophies and High Point Awards will be presented at the annual county recognition events later in the year.  
The Custer County Junior and Senior Grand and Reserve Showmanship winners will be eligible to participate in the Round Robin Showmanship contest Aug. 9 during the Custer County Fair and 4-H Achievement Days held in Hermosa.
4-Hers exhibit by age divisions of Beginner (8-10), Junior (11-13) and Senior (14-19) and there is a Pony division for horses under 54 inches. All 4-Hers receiving a purple ribbon in an event are qualified to participate in the State Horse Show July 22-24 in Huron.
