4-H Horse Achievement Days results listed

The 4-Hers practice many hours, training their horses for the different events. This year’s event was host to 26 participants, with approximately 125 entries in 30 different classes.  All participants complete a horse safety training program that offers an opportunity to gain skills, knowledge and expertise regarding the importance of safety around horses and while riding horses. 

Showmanship trophies were presented to the Grand Champion exhibitors. The Custer County Beginner Grand Champion Showmanship trophy was awarded to Whitley Heitsch, and the Fall River trophy for this division went to Cassidy March. The Custer County Junior Grand Champion Showmanship trophy was awarded to Shaelynn Heitsch, with the Fall River trophy going to Lindzie Huber. In the Senior Western Showmanship event Sarah Mills received the Custer County Grand Championship Trophy, with the Fall River Award going to Leslie Elmore.

The Custer County Junior and Senior Grand and Reserve Showmanship winners will be eligible to participate in the Round Robin Showmanship contest on Saturday, Aug. 13, during the Custer County Fair and 4-H Achievement Days held in Hermosa.

4-Hers exhibit by age divisions of Beginner (8-10), Junior (11-13), and Senior (14-19) and there is a Pony division for horses under 54 inches. All 4-Hers receiving a purple ribbon in an event are qualified to participate in the State Horse Show July 19-21 in Huron.
