When it comes to Custer School District students using or not using alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs, one thing is clear—parents play a huge role in which path children chose to go down.
Evidence of that is crystal clear in the results of the Pride survey Custer students in grades six through 12 took a couple of months ago. The survey showed only 9.4 percent of students whose parents talked to them about the dangers of drugs used them, while nearly 60 percent of students whose parents never or seldom talked to them about drugs used them. The survey also showed nearly 60 percent of students whose parents set clear rules never used drugs, and another 35 percent seldom used them.
