Gold Discovery Days has events for everyone

Published: Thursday, July 24th, 2014

Residents and visitors alike seem to really enjoy all the events offered by the Custer Area Chamber of Commerce and Gold Discovery Days Committee members this coming weekend. After all, this is the grandaddy of them all when it comes to annual community celebrations in Custer County.
Besides all the activities going on, topped by the big parade Saturday morning through downtown Custer, there are all the various Custer High School class reunions happening throughout the town. It’s a time for renewing old acquaintances and making new ones.
For a complete detailed schedule of events, please turn to the pages in the Western Trader this week. Our favorite time is the Saturday morning big parade with the Cool Pine Cruisers annual car show following. These two events draw a huge crowd every year with many families coming back year after year to take in the festivities.
One such family we are familiar with travels here every year from northwest Indiana to observe and take part in the events. They especially enjoy the big parade and the kids can always be found jumping on the inflatables in the afternoon. We’re sure they are not alone, judging by the huge crowds at these events.
The local Gold Discovery Days committee members are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to make these three days as fun-filled as possible. It takes a lot of coordination to pull all these events together and they manage to do a bang-up job each year. We also know they could use a few extra hands, so if you want to contribute to the success of this annual celebration, they would gladly welcome you with open arms.
We hope everyone has a great time this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Custer City. Happy 91st annual Gold Discovery Days in Custer!
