Mildred (Millie) Whitaker Foote was born July 7, 1930, in Arlington Heights, Ohio, to Roosevelt and Estella (Sears) Whitaker. She married the love of her life, Thomas Edward Foote, Nov. 27, 1948.
Tom and Millie raised four sons and were active in the Forest Park Volunteer Fire Department before retiring to their cabin in the woods on Lake Cumberland (Ky.) in 1977. Millie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a friend to all and enjoyed her Wednesday card days. She also spent time traveling with her sons to Hawaii, Cancun, Xcaret and numerous trips to Custer, S.D.
Millie died peacefully Nov. 1, 2013, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was 83.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; her grandson, Jeffrey Marshall Foote; and her brothers, Kenneth and Richard Whitaker.
Millie is survived by her sons, Michael E. (Carolyn) Foote of Custer,, Thomas T. Foote of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mark J. (Heather) Foote of Burnside, Ky., and Robert J. (Shelly) Foote of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren: Jason Foote, Adam Foote, Michael K. Foote, Jared Foote, Alicia (Foote) Duebel, Jamie (Foote) Griffith, Cara (Foote) Kempf, Trevor Foote and Missy (Foote) Mackey; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Franks of Fairfield, Ohio; brother, Edwin (Ida) Whitaker of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; brothers-in-law Robert Foote, Bill Foote, Ned Foote; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Tom and Millie’s life will be held in the spring in Burnside, Ky. Donations may be to a charity of your choice.
