Belle beats ’Cats

The Custer Wildcat volleyball team has no problem getting aggressive. The problem is keeping that level of intensity, according to coach Renae Schneider.
“I really thought we played well out of the gates,” she said. “We played well as a team and we were aggressive.”
After the first match up against the Belle Fourche Broncs, the team’s aggressive attitude declined, causing the team to struggle. The Broncs defeated the Wildcats, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-14.
“We played tentative and more as individuals in the second and third games,” Schneider said. “We struggled with moving in the back row. Their hitters are very good and we got caught standing up way too much.”
Catlyn Cordell was 13 of 13 serving with three aces, 11 of 15 hitting with five kills, eight of 10 receiving with one assist and had two block assists. Jalee Johnson was six of seven serving, 47 of 47 setting with nine assists and 18 of 19 receiving with three block assists. Josey Johnson was six of six serving, five of six hitting with two kills and 19 of 26 receiving.
