Ready for Rally
Published: Thursday, August 1st, 2013
Final preparations were discussed during Friday’s Custer Cruisin’ meeting — the last before the Custer Cruisin’ Rally event, Aug. 2-11.
The first annual vintage bike show, sponsored by First Interstate Bank, Baker’s Bakery, French Creek RV Park & Campground, Shanklin Installation and Sales and the Rocket Motel, will be Monday, Aug. 5, and have four categories for judging and prizes for first and second place finishers. First place winners in each category will receive an engraved plaque. The plaques have been ordered and the templates were being finalized.
“The ultimate goal of this show is to get people in town,” said Kevin Cordill. “If we get more bikes in the show over the years, that’s great, too. But this is really to get people into Custer.”
Cordill said he has passed out more than 300 flyers about the show to area locations, as well as locations across the state. Cordill also said the Travel Channel, which will be in Sturgis filming bits of the Rally, may stop in Custer to film part of the vintage bike show.
“I haven’t received a definite confirmation, but I’ve been asked about times and where they should go. That sounds good,” he said. “It sounds like they will be here. That would be great.”
