Two join Custer school board

Published: Thursday, July 18th, 2013

The Custer  School  District Board of Education welcomed two new board members at the beginning of the July 8 meeting.
Paul Dinkins and Les Pinkerton, who will each serve a three-year term, were selected by fellow board members after no petitions to run were filed for the election earlier this year.
Pinkerton, Custer, retired from 33 years of federal civil service and 15 years of work with the Forest Service. Dinkins, Hermosa, has been the director of patient services at Custer Regional Hospital for nearly three years.
After the new members were sworn in, the board elected a new board president. Tom Martin was unanimously named board president after board member Anne Sandvig nominated him; Tanya Olson seconded.
The board was split between board members Brian Lintz and Sandvig for board vice president. Since Lintz was absent from the meeting, the vote will be re-taken next month when the tie can be broken with enough votes.
