Golf season ends on a high note

The girls golf season finished Wednesday, May 15, on a high note with some of the best scores of the season.
After playing nine holes, Cassidy Adam shot 73, Leah Zacher shot 60 and Elizabeth Watland shot 59. While the girls weren’t too happy with their scores, coach Royed Hollick was pleased.
“If you double their scores, that’s far better than their scores from their second time playing 18 holes,” he said. “They’ve improved from the beginning of the year and if they stick with it, I think that will continue.”
Hollick said should the girls keep practicing, they have the potential to qualify for the state meet in a few years.
“They’re all athletic, have the determination and have the mindset they need,” he said. “I want them to go out, play more and get more consistent. I don’t want them to take it so seriously. It’s a game and I want them to have fun and love the sport.”
Hollick hopes to have more girls out for the team next season, as well as get more play time on the course.
“It was a very short season,” he said. “I appreciate the moisture we received, but I would have liked to have been on the course more.”
Overall, Hollick was pleased with the girls and enjoyed his first season as coach.
“I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I hope the girls did, too,” he said. “I’m very happy with their improvement and their attitudes. It’s nice to see athletes who want to play and want to improve.”
