Marjorie Brazell

Marjorie (Sorenson) Brazell was born March 31, 1926, at Nunda, S.D., to Robert “RC” and Lucille Sorenson. She married Donald Brazell Dec. 20, 1943.  They had three children—Sandra, Larry and Bill.
They lived on a farm in the Nunda area for 16 years prior to moving to a ranch by Hermosa, S.D., in 1959.  They lived in Pine Top, Ariz., Black Hawk, S.D., and then moved to Mesa, Ariz., because of Marjorie’s health. Donald devoted his life to Marjorie’s care.
Marjorie was a member of Nunda Ladies Aid, Folsom Extension Club and Piedmont Baptist Church. Marjorie made many quilts, enjoyed making and painting ceramics and was an accomplished organist, but her passion was being an artist. She painted many pictures for family and friends.
Marjorie died in her home in Mesa Dec. 10, 2012. She was 86.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, her sister-in-law and a grandson. 
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Donald Brazell; daughter Sandra of Belgrade, Mont., and Mesa; two sons, Larry of Rapid City, S.D., and Bill (Alene) of Hermosa; four sisters, Charlotte Nagel of Sturgis, S.D., Vi Tollefson of Madison, S.D., Betty Larson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Donna Keiser of Bruce, S.D.; sisters-in –law: Helen Kirby of Tacoma, Wash., and Vi Sorenson of Madison, S.D.;  nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Custer County Fairgrounds in the Beef Barn Building May 4 at 1:30 p.m. Internment will be at Prairie Queen Cemetery in Nunda.
