Terry Van Voorst

Terry Van Voorst was born June 14, 1960, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Teunis Van Voorst and Shirley Mulder. He was raised in Sioux Center and attended Sioux Center Community School.

On Dec. 23, 1989, Terry married Tonia Wisse in Rock Valley, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux Center where Terry worked at Van Voorst Equipment Co. of Sioux Center with his father. After his father retired from the company, Terry and Tonia continued with the business.

Terry died Dec. 12, 2012, at his residence in Sioux Center. He was 52.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Allen Van Voorst.

Terry is survived by his wife, Tonia of Sioux Center; four sons, Jason (Sarah) Van Voorst of Sioux Center, Barry Van Voorst of Sioux Falls, S.D., Travis Van Voorst of Sioux Center, Joel Vande Stouwe of Sioux Center; a daughter, Lanie (Mark) Harris of Hull, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mackinzie, Faith and Luke Van Voorst and Lane Harris; his father, Teunis “Tony” (Jacqui) Van Voorst of Custer, S.D.; his mother, Shirley Mulder of Hull; two brothers, Yvon Bradley (Kathy) Van Voorst of Hull and their three children, Todd (Paige) Van Voorst of Story City, Iowa, and their three children; a sister-in-law, Patti Van Voorst of Tucson, Ariz.; and her two children.

Funeral services were Dec. 15 at Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. J. B. Zippro officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

The Van Voorst family request no flowers or gift items. Memorials are preferred to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School of Rock Valley or Sioux Center Community Home Health & Hospice.
