Volleyball team wins three of four games

The volleyball team had a busy week with four games, with Custer winning three of the four. The Wildcats hosted Douglas on Tuesday, Sept. 11, Lead/Deadwod on Thursday, Sept. 13, and Newcastle on Monday, Sept. 17, and traveled to Edgemont on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Custer defeated Newcastle after four sets, 25-18, 13-25, 25-14 and 25-22. As a team, serving was 92 percent and receiving was 86 percent.
“We had moments that we played well and were actually moving,” coach Renae Schneider said. “I think for the most part that we are lacking as a team. We need to work on our movement and passing in order to continue to be successful.”
Lisa Lovoll was 15 of 16 serving with six aces, 29 of 37 hitting with 12 kills, 21 of 23 receiving with 22 digs and had four solo blocks. Olivia Dahlstrom was 17 of 18 serving with one ace, eight of 11 hitting with four kills, eight of nine receiving with 10 digs and had one block assist. Tia Goebel was 13 of 14 serving, three of four hitting with two kills, two of two receiving with six digs and 85 of 86 setting with 30 assists.
Moe Mack was 12 of 12 serving with one ace, 13 of 15 hitting with nine kills, 10 of 12 receiving with 17 digs and had two solo blocks and one block assist. Catlyn Cordell was 10 of 10 serving, six of six hitting with three kills, two of two receiving with four digs and had one assist and two block assists. Kayla Halbmaier was 10 of 13 serving, 11 of 13 receiving with five digs and had one assist. Sierre Davies was 19 of 22 hitting with 10 kills, two of two receiving with two digs and had six solo blocks and two block assists and Jade Spring was six of nine receiving with two digs.
