Daugaard says he has “the right stuff”

Published: Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Dennis Daugaard’s values were shaped at an early age growing up on the family farm about 10 miles from the state line near Del Rapids. He hopes to takes these same conservative values to the governor’s office next November.

Daugaard, 56, the state’s lieutenant governor, was in Custer last Monday. He had just resigned from his position as Children’s Home Society executive director the week prior so he could devote all his time to the campaign.

“I think I’ve got the right stuff,” Daugaard said. “This is not the time for on-the-job training.” He has served the last seven years in Pierre as lieutenant governor. Prior to that he was a state senator for six years.
