Despite the ups and downs this year, the Custer volleyball team can proudly say it ended this regular season on a high note when it beat St. Thomas More (STM) 3-2 (27-25, 24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 16-14) Monday night, Oct. 26. Previously this year, Custer lost to STM at home 3-0, but with strong team play, Custer turned the tables on the BHC foe. “It was a great team effort overall,” Custer coach Renae Schneider said. “They all had the attitude that no one was going to let anything drop and they went for it.” With the win, Custer knocked STM out of the conference lead. Schneider said it would’ve been nice for Custer to be at the top, but any time a team can keep STM out of the top spot, it is a good thing. With STMâlosing, Douglas now stands as the conference leader. Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle. To subscribe, call 605-673-2217.
