Could coal become fuel of the past instead of future?

Chronicle Staff
Published: Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

In a recent Peanuts comic strip, Charie Brown is rolling the bottom part of a snowman and says to Linus, "Weatherwise this is an ideal day for making a snowman." In the next frame he continues chatting to Linus, "After I get him done, I'll use a carrot for his nose and some pieces of coal for his eyes and coat buttons." In the third frame, Linus says, "That's very clever, Charlie Brown." In the final comic strip frame with a snowman as a backdrop, Linus looks Charlie Brown in the eye and asks, "What's coal?"
