‘Heads of tails’ for Gary Kuchar’s creation

Gary Kuchar said he polished over 700 buffalo nickels to use on his bufffalo statue for the fifth annual Custer Buffalo Stampede Art Auction.

        Last fall during the Custer Buffalo Stampede Art Auction, an idea came to Gary Kuchar. The idea, though, was hazardous to his piggy bank. “The idea just hit me,” said Kuchar. “They make buffalo nickels and we have buffalo here; I thought it would look cool to cover a buffalo in buffalo nickels.”   Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle.
