Originally going to paint a small buffalo, Peggy Ann Leger, was talked into painted on a life sized one by her sister, Margaret. Peggy Ann’s buffalo for the art auction is title, “Buffalo Gals Won’t You Come Out Tonight.”

When sisters Margaret Loucks and Peggy Ann Leger were children, their father would bring them to the Badlands. Through those trips, they each grew to love the Black Hills and admired what the Hills offered. “I guess those trips is where we came to love the Black Hills,” said Margaret. “I have always admired the buffalo. They are big and sturdy and look like they can withstand anything nature throws at them.”   Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle. To subscribe, call 605-673-2217.
