Superintendent Dr. Tim Creal announced to the school board Monday evening that the Hermosa School was awarded qualified school bonds, which are interest free, for the Hermosa school project. Since the project is a little under $2.96 million, the district would save around $1 million in interest on the project, he said.
Board member Tim Wicks said the building committee discussed throwing the Hermosa school project into the mix with the proposed Custer school project. If that happens, the qualified school bonds just awarded would be lost. Also, it isn’t really feasible to go with that option now.
