Donald Harold Herrmann of Hot Springs, S.D., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the S.D. State Veterans Home in Hot Springs. He was 88. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1940 until 1945. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Herrmann of Hot Springs; one son, Jim Herrmann; one daughter, Judy Kennedy; three sisters, Esther Lacy of Custer, S.D., Violet Griffen of Concord, Calif., and Bernice Aiman of Milton, Wash; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Committal services were Jan. 21 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D., with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
