William Blight

William “Bill” Blight was born April 11, 1939, to Marvin and Hazel Blight in Rapid City, S.D. He graduated from Custer High School in 1958, and married Barbara Tauriainen Dec. 1, 1990. Bill retired from CWX Trucking in Reno, Nev., and in his retirement he enjoyed fishing, golfing, target shooting, watching professional rodeo, playing cards and traveling with his wife. Bill, of Eagle Point, Ore., died Dec. 13, 2008, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. He was 69. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jane; and grandson, Garen Tauriainen. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Rusty (Lisa); daughter, Jackie (John) Anderson of Idaho; stepsons, Bob (Denise) Tauriainen, and Gary (Charla) Tauriainen of Oregon; stepdaughter, Linda (Kurt) Mickelson of Colorado; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many relatives, friends and classmates. A celebration of Bill’s life was held Dec. 19 at Reese Creek Christian Center in Eagle Point. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Custer, S.D. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
