Carrie M. Buchan

  Carrie M. Buchan was born July 23, 1908, in Bradgate, Iowa, to Mike and Sine Madsen. She married John H. Buchan on Dec. 9, 1932, in Fairmont, Minn. On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, she died peacefully at her home in Custer, S.D. She was 100. She was preceded in death by  her husband, John; brothers, Stanley and Lawrence Madsen; and parents, Mike and Sine Madsen. Survivors include a son, Larry (Sally) Buchan of Custer, grandsons Jonathan (Dianne) Buchan of Ely, Nev., and Wade (Kari) Buchan of Gillette, Wyo.; grandaughters, Lori (Bert) Pond of Custer, Stephanie Buchan of Alcester, S.D., and Nicole (Bret) Toelke of Custer; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Humboldt, Iowa, on Nov. 21 at Lindhart Mason Funeral Home and burial will be in Union Cemetery.
