Ronald E. Huston was born Nov. 28, 1940, in Rapid City, S.D., to Ray and Alice Huston. His family moved to Custer, S.D., in 1947 and he graduated from Custer High School. He married Dianne Kunert in Rapid City on Dec. 22, 1963, and attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, graduating in mechanical engineering in 1968. He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc., for 32 years, a career which took him and his family to Hong Kong; Bangkok, Thailand; Geneva, Switzerland; and Peoria, IL.
Ron enjoyed vintage and sports cars, off-roading, golf and other outdoor activities. He valued his many friends and took great joy in his faith, which he shared easily with friends and acquaintances. He was a member of Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, Ron died in Tucson, Ariz. He was 76.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Scott (Ellen) and their children, Trevor, Olivia, and Casson, of Stephens City, Va.; a daughter, Paige Huston of Harrodsburg, Ky.; a brother, Duane (Linda) and their sons, Derek and Brian of Tucson; a sister, Lorna Keltner of Tulsa, Okla., and his parents-in-law, Seth and Lou Kunert of Sturgis, S.D.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Custer.
