Dick Weiss

Richard A. “Dick” Weiss, of Custer, S.D., was born July 8, 1939, in Valentine, Neb., to Ernest and Olga (Weidman) Weiss. He died July 27, 2010, at Advanced Care Hospital of Billings, Mont. He was 71.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, Terry.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Custer; daughters, Michelle (Scott) Garhart of Newcastle, Wyo., Kathy (Byran) Bettcher of Sheridan, Wyo., brother, Earl Weiss of Parmelee, S.D.; sisters, Erna Heinert of Valentine, Neb., Irene Kaufman of Norris, S.D., Darlene Guenther of Onalaska, Texas, and Ellen Totton of Wall, S.D.; four grandchildren, Travis Garhart, Katie Garhart, Brooke Bettcher and Kory Bettcher.
Funeral services were July 31 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, S.D., with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating.
A memorial has been established to benefit the Salvation Army.
