Gold Discovery Days winners announced

Published: Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Brody Lange, son of Joleen Falkenburg and Brian Lange, appears to be very excited as he circles a barrel during the Gold Discovery Days stick horse rodeo last Friday evening. Not even an overturned stick horse could slow him down.

Friendly competition abounded at several Gold Discovery Days events last weekend.
In the hospital bed races, team Useta Cuddas retained the title they won last year, coming in first place and earning a $153 prize. After an initial loss in their own custom designed bed, the team went on to win the rest of their races with the traditional carts provided. The Custer Regional Hospital team came in second, winning a $102 prize.
Bidding in the calcutta auction prior to the races was spirited, with past champions Useta Cuddas going for a whopping $750. Jeff Storm won that bid, and proceeded to win $509 after his team won first place. Joy Falkenburg won $255 for winning the bid for the second place team.
Several different category prizes were awarded in the Gold Discovery Days parade. The patriotism award went to Lawanna Gramm for her entry based on supporting our troops.
