I was visiting with my friend Phil Lampert one day last week and the conversation got steered toward improving shop local habits of our county residents. He said he had an article to fax me and I said we had another idea, stolen of course, from another newspaper, that we intended to implement in April.
First, let’s discuss the Minneapolis Star-Tribune story about how one Twin Cities retail consultant and speaker beat me to the punch. I wanted to be the one who launched a national buy-local movement. Cinda Baxter didn’t like it when she saw Oprah teaming up with personal-finance guru Suze Orman last March to urge viewers to stop all unnecessary spending. Baxter disagreed with this idea and said this was the fastest way to bankrupt the entire nation’s economy.
