CYAF dedicated to Custer’s youth

Common wisdom says it’s impossible to be all things to all people. So the Custer Youth and Alumni Foundation (CYAF) limits itself to trying to be as much as financially possible to the youth of the Custer area. With the help of its donors – both alumni from around the country and community members – the foundation has been quietly funding grants to help provide additional learning experiences to students, as well as scholarships to assist students with higher education. One of those students is Zach Beam, a 2006 CHS graduate. Now at Black Hills State University, Beam received the $1,000 Zacher Scholarship this fall to help him continue his studies in education. In memory of long-time Custer teacher and coach Clarence “Red” Zacher, the scholarship was established by his family to help those who represent the future generation of teachers. Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle. To subscribe, call 605-673-2217.
