Sixty miles, three days, thousands of steps and months of preparation to make a personal difference in finding the cures. Amanda Campbell, a local Custer resident, is preparing for this bold journey. Campbell has joined thousands of other breast cancer supporters in preparing for the 2009 Phoenix Breast Cancer 3-Day benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. After months of training and fundraising, participants will walk 60 miles during three days to raise awareness and funds for research, education and community health programs. Campbell is walking for over 10 women who have or have had breast cancer, including some Custer residents. Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle.
