Both the Hermosa math teacher, Larry Vickers, and school board member Kevin Strand voiced their disdain for the current interest class—volleyball—offered at the Hermosa school at the Oct. 12 Custer District School Board meeting in Custer. While interest/special skills classes have been offered in Custer for some time now, this is the first year the classes have been offered in Hermosa. Since this is the first year in Hermosa, the only interest class offered is volleyball. Currently, middle school band takes place at that time and all students in band are required to go to band.
