Michael Burgraff, director of the Black Hills Playhouse through some of its most tumultuous moments, has resigned his position.
The resignation, effective as of last Tuesday, came after Burgraff accepted the position of executive director at the Spearfish Arts Center. Burgraff had served as the executive director of the Playhouse for the past two and a half years.
“This is an incredible opportunity,” Burgraff said of his new position. “It’s the opportunity to be presenting again, which is a real passion (of mine).”
The former director of the Spearfish Arts Center resigned at the end of April, and Burgraff said the opportunity to do the variety of things he will do in his new job—art, theatre, working with children and the community—on a year-around basis was too hard to pass up.
“I’m just pumped,” he said. “I can’t tell you how excited I am.”

Way to go Mike! You will bring the new venue to a whole new level. Too bad BHP, you just let a superstar go.
