Antelope, deer, elk, grouse, pheasants — you name the species, you can hunt it somewhere in South Dakota. But one animal for which there is no season in this state is the kangaroo.
It behooves the avid hunter then to go where the 'roos are. So that's what Custer native Zach McLain did.
Now a firefighter and emergency medical technician in Sheridan, Wyo., Zach was at work one day last fall when a co-worker was talking about kangaroo hunting.
"I told him that I would love to hunt kangaroos some day," Zach said recently. "He said, 'Well, buy your tickets and come with us. We are going over this year!"
