Climate conference is sign of insane times

| The long-anticipated United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change opened Monday in Copenhagen, Denmark, with dire warnings of apocalyptic danger for mankind if some 110 heads of state or government failed to seize the moment. Organizers seek solutions to what they see as man-made drought, floods, storms and rising seas which threaten the very future existence of all of us.
Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen tells us the world is looking to Copenhagen to safeguard the generations of tomorrow. “For the next two weeks, Copenhagen will be Hopenhagen. By the end, we must be able to deliver back to the world what was granted us here today: hope for a better future,” Rasmussen said. Opening ceremonies featured a short science fiction film featuring children of the future facing a nightmare scenario of tempests and desert landscapes if world leaders failed to take action.
Let’s see. We heard a lot about hope and change in this country a year ago, and now we are reaping what we have sown. What is that old saying, “Be careful what you wish for!” With billions of dollars at stake, Third World countries will be making their best cases for adverse climate changes supposedly caused in the world by countries like the United States. A good way to kick off such a conference and get it on the right path is to show an emotionally-charged sci-fi film with children being threatened by man-made severe climate changes.
About 15,000 people will attend the conference this week and next, when President Obama is scheduled to arrive. Air Force One will be among about 150 private jets landing at the Copenhagen airport and others nearby. Airplane occupants will step out of their jets and into one of approximately 1,500 limousines that have been put into service. Since Denmark does not have that many limousines, some from nearby countries like Germany and Sweden had to be driven in. What kind of a carbon imprint do you think all of this activity will leave on the environment? I’m sure Al Gore will be there on the spot selling his infamous carbon credits to all of these heads of state and government.
Hopefully, we will come away from this conference with it costing us little if anything. Obama can promise all he wishes in the terms of us paying billions of dollars to Third World countries for our alleged past environmental transgressions, as long as our Congress has the final say. This conference is nothing but the cap and trade scheme being played out on an international stage.
It seems the plan is to not only break businesses and individuals in this country, but to break our country’s bank as well with billions of dollars in pledges to other countries that say they are impacted by our excessive carbon emissions. All this is coming at a time when our Congress is contemplating enacting national health care legislation that will cost us an arm and a leg with virtual assurance there will be rationed health care.
Heaven help us survive these insane national and international climate policies that are destined to bankrupt us all. If that happens, our climate will be the least thing we have to worry about. Click Here To See More Stories Like This |

Well Charley it is obvious to see that you could care less about global warming. Which I guess is rightly so since you will not be around to see its major effects. As for me and those younger, we are going to have to put up with the consequences of yours and other older generation's actions. Spending is not the issue. Coming up with better solutions to control the global warming problem is the most important thing we can do.
And one last note. It's a real bummer reading your opinion articles. You really try to paint the picture that those in charge are leading America down the tubes! Well, I'm young, educated, and just about ready to join the "real world". Your uneducated opinions give me a chuckle. I have more hope for this country right now than ever before. Change is good!
