Marie Darby

Marie Louise Darby was born May 6, 1915, in Sunfield Township, Mich., to Frank and Lulu (Towns) Steele. She married Forrest Dale Darby March 24, 1934. They had a daughter, Kay, and a son, Forrest Lee. She was a secretary for the Lake Odessa School, the doctor’s office and the canning factory before retiring to northern Michigan and Florida.
Marie, of Custer, S.D., died Nov. 12, 2013, at Custer Regional Senior Care. She was 98.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay (David) Coppess of Custer; son, Forrest Lee (Karen) Darby of Hermosa, S.D.; five grandchildren, Chad (Lisa Lynn) Coppess of Pierre, S.D., Lisa Marie (William) Peters of Fairbault, Minn., Scott Darby of Battle Creek, Mich., Mark Darby of Holt, Mich., and Wes Darby of Pierre; and four  great-grandchildren, Cody Coppess of Minneapolis, Minn., and Austin Peters, Darby Peters and Maia Peters of Fairbault.
Memorial services were Nov. 18 at Custer Community Church with Pastor Bill Comfort officiating.
