Joseph Mark Lintz was born March 3, 1926, to John and Gladys Lintz of rural Hermosa, S.D.
Joe served in the Navy in the late 1940s. He married Beryle Pool in 1950 and they lived on the family ranch. He and his family moved from the Lintz Ranch to Kalispel, Mont., in 1963. Joe later moved to Cave Creek, Ariz., where he lived the last 40 years. He was an “old time” cowboy and a well-known artist in multiple mediums.
On Aug. 31, 2013, Joe died in Phoenix, Ariz. He was 87 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Lintz, brothers Jack and Bill, a son Ching, and daughter Helene.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Woodford of Kalispel, Mont.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the Hermosa American Legion.
