Thomas Plooster

Thomas “Tom” J. Plooster was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Corsica, S.D., to Arlo and Arlene (Bordewyk) Plooster.  He was baptized in the First Reformed Church of Harrison,  S.D., where he attended catechism and Sunday School. He attended a rural school and graduated from Corsica High School in 1974.  Tom attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
Tom moved to Custer, S.D., in 1977. During that time he was employed by Kainz Construction, Black Hills Electric Cooperative and Craig Hindle Construction. Tom dearly loved the Black Hills, hunting, fishing, bowling and golf.
He was married to Sue Scott Dec. 29, 1977.  The couple had three daughters, Victoria, Elizabeth and Cassandra.  
Tom married Barb Larson Dec. 12, 1997.
Tom died April 22, 2013, at Custer Regional Hospital in Custer. He was 57.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Barb Plooster of Custer; mother, Arlene Plooster of Corsica; three daughters, Vicki Plooster Gray of Houston, Texas,  Betsy (Trent) Shearer of Wall, S.D., and Cassie Plooster of Sheridan, Wyo.; two step sons, Michael Beeman of Charlotte, N.C., and KJ Larson of Erie, Pa.; step daughter, Chantelle Larson of Erie; brother, Todd (Brenda) Plooster of Corsica; two sisters, Judy (Ron) VandenBerge of Corsica and Jolene (Dan) Brosz of Bowman, N.D.; one granddaughter, Zoey Shearer; three step grandchildren, Nikki Beeman, Kaylee Beeman and Peyton Swanson; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were April 27 at the First Reformed Church in Harrison with Pastor Gary Maas officiating.  Committal services followed the Harrison Cemetery.
