Leslie Sletten

Leslie Melvin ‘Les’ Sletten was born Dec. 21, 1930, near Toronto, S.D. He was a Purple Heart Army veteran from the Korean War in 1950.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Tirrel. They farmed near Toronto for five years. They moved to California in 1968, where Les worked for American Airlines until he retired in 1993 and moved to Custer, S.D.
They have three children, Connie Parker of Colo., Randy Sletten of Custer and Rick (Carrie) Sletten of California. They have six grandsons, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Les died peacefully in his home Feb. 16, 2013. He was 82.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Kunte and Josie (Benson) Sletten; sister, Agnes Tolrud; brother, Kenneth Sletten; and grandson, Brian Parker.
Funeral services were Feb. 21 at Living Outreach Church in Custer with Pastor Joel Ziolkowski officiating. Interment followed at the Custer Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to benefit the Gideon’s.
