Harold Lang

Harold Dale Lang was born in DuBois, Neb., July 10, 1922, to the late Otto and Ethel Pearl (Feik) Lang. Before retirement, Lang had owned Arrow Communications, a telecommunications company with offices nationwide. His career spanned a broad depth of experience in communications, electric power, insurance, mining and other business ventures, including numerous inventions.
Harold graduated from DuBois High School in 1938. His loving wife was Norma Jean Atkins Lang, who died in 1996. Harold was a B-29 pilot for the U.S. Air Force during WWII, flying 35 combat missions over Japan.
Following his military service, the Langs resided in Humboldt, Neb., Hay Springs, Neb., Custer, S.D., and relocated to Arizona in 1969. Harold was a 33rd Degree Mason, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Hay Springs and a member of El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix, Ariz.
Harold, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012. He was 90.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife; grandson, Kenneth A. Lang; brother, George E. Lang; and sisters, Deloris Lang Douglas and Margaret Alice Lang.
He is survived by three children, son, Roger D. (Maxine) Lang of Beresford, S.D.; daughters, Barbara J. Calvird and companion Paul Kadavy of Las Vegas, Nev., and daughter Sharon (Bohdan) K. Yourk of Fountain Hills; three grandchildren, Roga Lang Guthmiller of Aberdeen, S.D., Lavern Lang of Fairview, S.D., and Nicole Yourk Grzyb of Fountain Hills; two great-grandchildren, Jessie and Elizabeth Guthmiller of Aberdeen; sister, Erma Lee of Dawson, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Oct. 19 at Messinger Mortuary in Fountain Hills.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans.
