Freda M. Aman

Freda M. Aman was born August 23, 1933, in Merna, Neb., the only child of Lloyd and Juanita (McCarty) Waffensmith. She was raised at Pringle, S.D., where she met and grew up with James V. Aman, whom she married in Chadron, Neb.
 Freda taught school in Edgemont, S.D., for one year and in Custer, S.D.,  for six years. She also served as a member of the Custer School Board for 12 years. Freda’s most important job was raising 10 children. She was a very loving and caring mother who lived for her kids. Her main emphasis was to make sure that each one of her children received a good education.
On May 15, 2010, Freda died at Rapid City (S.D.) Regional Hospital. She was 76 years old.
Funeral services were held May 20 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer with Fr. Peter Kovarik officiating. Interment was at the Custer Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Patricia Aman.
 Survivors include her husband, James V. Aman of Custer; nine children, Cindy (John) Daly of Box Elder, S.D., Mike (Lori) Aman of Blair, Neb., Carol Aman of Nampa, Idaho, John (Peggy) Aman of Parker, Colo., Lloyd Aman of Custer, Sandra (Stan) Stenson of Ingleside, Texas, James R. Aman of Tillamook, Ore., Richard Aman, Lakewood, Calif., Stephen (Libby) Aman of Andover, Minn.; 10 grandchildren ;and 10 greatgrandchildren.
