Dorothy June Voorhees was born April 2, 1926, to Harry and June (Larson) Treloar in Colton, S.D. Voorhees was a woman of unshakable faith, devoted to prayer and Bible study. As a wife and mother, her love was unconditional. Her words of instruction were wise and truthful, given in love. She spoke with the strength of leadership wrapped in humility. She never let life’s challenges steal her joy and humor. She worked hard and noted that being Norwegian made her tough. Her favorite hymn was “In the Garden,” because it spoke of the personal relationship she had with the Lord. Dorothy died Feb. 2, 2010 at Wedgwood Assisted Living Center om Custer. She was 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and June Treloar; and brothers, Al, Lowell, Waldo and Ronald. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dennis (Dianna) French of Evansville, Wyo., Roger (Kathy) French of Custer, S.D., Bruce (Margaret) French of Custer; brother, Donald ‘Bud’ Treloar of Arizona; sisters, Darlene Ennis of California, Ramona Hausmann of Rapid City, S.D., Patricia Talich of Rapid City, and Coleen Hicks of Custer; five grandchildren, Paul, Erin, Brenda, Tammy and Tanya; and nine great-grandchildren.
