Victor Streeter

Victor Eugene Streeter was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Buffalo Gap, S.D., the eldest son of Charles G. Streeter, a saddlemaker, and Mary E. Korthaus of Buffalo Gap. Vic enlisted in the Army in 1940 and served in the medics during the war. In 1944 he was posted to the United Kingdom to help establish a U.S. Army evacuation hospital for casualties from D-Day landings. While stationed in England he met Brenda Cave of Birmingham at her 21st birthday party, and they were married in 1947. He returned to the U.S. and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He then returned to England, where they lived ever since, having one son, Jeremy, in 1955. Vic lost his beloved wife in January 1998. Vic worked as a planning engineer for James Booth Aluminum, which later became Alcan. Vic died Jan. 18, 2010, in Birmingham, England. He was 93. Vic was preceded in death by his elder sister, Edna Brightman; and younger brother, Ed Streeter. He is survived by his only son, Jeremy of Birmingham; nephew, Earl Brightman of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, Judy Miller of Rochester, N.Y., and Sherry Streeter of Gardnerville, Nev.
