Amissing Custer teenager was found in good condition just under 24 hours after she was reported missing last week just south of town.
Jazmin Hitshew, 15, was reported missing by a friend just after midnight Friday, June 6. At about 9:30 p.m. that night, she was located by officials who were searching for her. She was found in a ravine near Wittrock Road, about a mile north of her home. She was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital to be checked out.
Law enforcement officials said it was the second time in a week Hitshew had left home. She had also left on Tuesday of that week, but was located shortly thereafter with the help of dogs from Custer County Search and Rescue.
After Hitshew went missing Friday, law enforcement officials sent out an alert to local media asking for help in spreading the word that Hitshew was missing, since she has a seizure disorder and did not have her medication with her.
Along with Custer County Search and Rescue, the Custer County Sheriff’s Department and reserves, Custer Ambulance Service, U.S. Forest Service and Custer Fire Department aided in the search. Officials said they searched in the area Hitshew had previously been located in, along with other areas they were given information she might have gone to.
