Fine drains plumber of $50

The plumber who installed the holding tanks for wastewater at the new movie theater in Hermosa is $50 lighter in the wallet, after being fined by Custer County.
At the Aug. 1 meeting of the Custer County Commission, county planning director David Green said his department was sent scrambling last week when it was notified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) that holding tanks had been installed at the theater. Green said the tanks were installed before the design was approved by DENR and before pulling the proper permits from the county.
Green said he went out to the theater and had a conversation with the owner of the theater, Roy Reitenbaugh, a conversation Green described as “not pleasant.” Reitenbaugh has complained in the past about what he feels as efforts by the county to slow down the completion of the theater with red tape.
