uster High School class of 2010 graduate Josie Thomsen will serve as this year’s Gold Discovery Days queen.
“When I was told Iâwould be the 2010 queen, I was very honored and excited,” Thomsen said.â“It really means a lot to me because I feel as though I’m truly part of the Custer community.”
Thomsen, of Edgemont, said she applied to be Gold Discovery Days queen because she felt she was both qualified for the position and felt she would be a good queen. The fact that there was a $500 scholarship offered with the title added to her incentive to apply for the position.
Thomsen has been involved with Gold Discovery Days for four years. Her aunt, Dr. Joy Falkenburg, convinced her to come and be on her bed race team in 2007 and ride in the parade with her. She said she enjoyed it so much she did it again in 2008. Last year, she volunteered her time to help with concessions and the jumping castles.
