Council approves manual changes

ll personnel records for employees for the City of Custer  City shall be accessed only by the employee or their supervisor, except for in the rarest of occasions. That was the decision made by the Custer City Council at its regular meeting Monday night.
A resolution that changed wording in the employee manual was passed unanimously, in which the resolution states the finance officer shall be responsible for maintaining personnel records. In the absence of the finance officer, his or her designee shall assume responsibilities for such personnel records.
The next paragraph states “all employee records are confidential. Such records shall be accessible only to the individual employee and the employee’s supervisor, except that the common council many gain access there solely for purpose of any decision affecting the individual employee’s status, by a two-thirds vote of the council.
