A bill designed to keep the Black Hills Playhouse operational in its current location is before the South Dakota Legislature and has been presented to the Senate’s State Affairs Committee. Its prime sponsor is Sen. Dave Knudson (R-Sioux Falls), the State Senate’s majority leader. The bill, SB102, which was amended by supporters of the Playhouse, is a simple one. It simply states the lease agreement entered into effective Oct. 1, 1999, by the State of South Dakota by and through the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks and the Black Hills Playhouse, Inc., is hereby ratified and continued and shall remain in full force and effect until Sept. 30, 2019.
