At the rate they are going, the surgeon general may slap a disclaimer on the Custer High School girls basketball team in the near future: anyone with a heart condition should avoid watching them. The cardiac ’Cats improved their record to 7-2 with a pair of wins last weekend, but neither was a comfortable victory, with one going to overtime and the other being pulled out late in the fourth quarter. Against Hot Springs last Friday night, the Wildcats had to overcome a seven point deficit with just over two minutes left in the game to escape with a 45-39 win. The Wildcats had to experiment with a new lineup and rotation in the game, having lost a pair of post players—Tiffany Dower and Taylor Harkin Steele—to injury the night before. Although the team got off to a fast start, there were some bumps in the road. Available only in the print version of the Custer County Chronicle. To subscribe, call 605-673-2217.
