he Custer High School track team divided forces and participated in a pair of track meets last weekend, with some of the team members heading to the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls, with some of the others heading to the Northern Hills Invitational in Belle Fourche.
At Howard Wood, the 3200 relay team of Kenneth Myers, Israel Parsons Shane Herman and Chase Glazier ran their way to a victory in a time of 8:27.85, while the medley relay of David Hernandez, Joel Thomsen, Myers and Glazier finished in second place at 3:43.77. The 1600 relay team also placed second at 3:31.52. That time was comprised of Glazier, Thomsen, Myers and Clayton Wahlstrom.
Two Wildcat boys placed individually at the meet. Logan Burns set a new school record in the 3200 meter on his way to a fifth place finish, posting a time of 9:38.75. Burns broke the old mark of 9:44.18 set by Cody Herman in 2013.
Brennan Witt competed in the 800 at the event and finished in eighth place at a time of 2:0j1.62. That was well off the times he has been running in the event, as he was hampered by a tight hamstring a quarter of the way into the race.
