Five place at Philip

The Custer High School wrestling team faced tough competition over the weekend, but that didn’t stop five wrestlers from placing in the top eight at the Philip Invitational tournament.
“We got to wrestle against teams from the east part of the state we don’t see that much,” said coach Jared Webster. “It was a pretty good tournament. They got some good time in (on the mat).”
Eighth grader Jahrett Schiemer (120 pounds) took seventh place, as did David Sigdestad (195). Chasen Cole (138) took sixth place after a “slam,” not being able to return. Clayton Wahlstrom (182) took second place after losing to the opponent he beat at the Rapid City Invitational earlier in the season. Mike Murray (220) also took second place at the invitational.
“(Mike and Clayton) still have stuff they need to work on, but it’s coming,” Webster said. “I think they will peak at the right time and place high when it counts.”
