Wrestlers place fourth

The Custer High School wrestling team started the season on a good note, placing fourth at the Custer Invitational Tournament this weekend. While it may not have been where the team wanted to place, coach Jared Webster was happy with the team’s effort.
“I was very impressed with the lightweight; the younger kids,” he said. “I was worried about them going into the tournament, but they wrestled well and stepped up.”
The team will spend this week working on technique and separating kids here and there.
“The technique is coming, but (the younger kids) never gave up,” Webster said. “It was excellent.”
In the 106 weight class, sophomore Chance Dooley took eighth place while sophomore Micah Grace took fifth in the 113 weight class. In the 120, sophomore Tyler Hughes took sixth while eighth grader Jahrett Scheimer took seventh. Blake Jensen took sixth in the 126 class, as did Tabin Elmore in the 145 weight class. Forrest Lewis took eighth in the 152 class and both David Sigdestad and Ben Marchand placed in the 195 category, with Sigdestad taking fifth and Marchand taking seventh.
