’Cats finish fifth in Box Elder

The Custer High School golf team traveled north last Thursday for the Douglas Wind Power Invitational at Prairie Ridge Golf Course, where it came away with a fifth place finish.
Two Wildcat golfers tied for top honors for the Wildcats, as both Blake Martinz and Cole Conard finished with rounds of 86. Their scores were good enough for 10th place overall.
As a team, the Wildcats finished with 363 strokes. St. Thomas More and Rapid City Stevens tied for the team title with scores of 334. Individual medalist honors went to Jeron Laurenti, who finished with a score of 78.
Other Wildcat golfers who competed were Noah Zacher, 94, Lane Robb, 97, Adam Baker, 99, and Zach Hollick 104.
Friday the team will head to Belle Fourche for a triangular versus the host Broncs and Lead-Deadwood. Tee time is 3 p.m. On Monday the team heads south to the Black Hills Conference meet at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs. That meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
